Passage of the Beast
Embarking on a hiking trip in the Appalachian Mountains with her father Duke, twelve year old Sarah is excited to spend her summer escaping the chaos and noise of her Philadelphia home. After a week of fresh air and sunny days, an unexpected rainstorm blurs the ink of their trail map, making the road ahead unreadable and indiscernible in the endless woodlands around them. Knowing that the closest ranger station is just a days walk over a nearby ridge, Sarah’s father decides they should expedite their hike by taking a shortcut along an old logging trail. As the wilderness around them thickens, Duke begins to experience horrible psychedelic visions of a monster lurking in the trees surrounding them. In trying to find safety from the nightmares of his own mind, he manages only to lead both Sarah and himself further into darkness.
